"Grimes, i_o" rather than submitting it as "Grimes" or even "Grimes & i_o").

Tidal submits multiple artists as if it's one artist, separated by commas (e.g. Apple Music lets you edit tag data if you have iCloud Music Library enabled, so if you're really obsessive about how your music gets scrobbled, you can perfect it. Spotify only submits the first artist in a release containing multiple artists and that's okay for me. It's built-in, but I'd like the ability to change how I scrobble music from Tidal. Secondly, there's also Last.fm integration. I have a ton of playlists spanning multiple genres, so having folders to organise my playlists is essential. Playlist folders are basically non-existent on Tidal. But my issues with Tidal are to do with Last.fm integration and playlist organisation. I've used Hi-Fi before and can notice the differences between lossless and lossy compression, enough for me to shell out an extra tenner. I'd take an Electron-based client like Tidal and Spotify do at this point.

If it helps, I've also tried Apple Music which I consider the best out of all four if it wasn't for the shitty client that is iTunes (which doesn't even work on Linux).

TIDAL VS SPOTIFY FREE

I've come back to Tidal after a year of not using it (they gave me a month free so why the hell not?), and under six months after trying Deezer Hi-Fi. Quboz is one I'd like to try out, but it isn't available to me unfortunately! If things change I may switch, but it won't be for Spotify.ĭeezer offers some things tidal doesn't, but the vice versa is true too. I consider Deezer every now and then but prefer tidal due to discounts offers in Canada and mobile hifi. I use Apple music (brother's subscription, he uses my Netflix and prime) literally just for those days I want to listen to Dre's chronic.īeen using tidal for 2+ years with a few months of Deezer and Spotify. Other than that it's the user base, many friends ask me to share music and they are Sol when I mention tidal as most are Spotify or Apple Music. Pretty much the only thing that Spotify has that tidal doesn't, for me, is the remote use to control music on other devices (for example controlling a computer from my phone - I can currently only control music on my phone from my watch). Other than that, the podcasts are quite interesting as well as the TIDAL Rising (new and upcoming artists - I find it quite cool), the concerts on video, and the mixes are much better than when first introduced! Jay Z's albums are exclusive, for obvious reasons, but other names like daft punk, deadmau5 also come to mind. Outside of that, album exclusivity and earlier releases for some artists is another plus. Pretty much on everything, outside of driving my truck, the difference is noticeable, for my ears. Outside of that we've got a few sets of speakers at my place and the parents from JBL, Sony, and Harmon Kardon. I use a pair of Sennheiser HD590 Closed back (I'm considering getting an open back) and a pair of Sony WH1000xm2 for LDAC (considering grabbing the m3's based on reviews but holding out as I expect the m4 is en route). Essentially everything I hear is a big difference during my sit down sessions. I have about 1200+ albums downloaded on phone from masters, hifi to regular. It was definitely something that shocked me so I'm curious as to your guys experience? The orchestra on Tidal was fuller sounding, her vocals sounded so much more rich and had more energy. Much more difference than other masters on Tidal vs Spotify. Both the same album so same version, on Tidal being master quality and Spotify regular however the sound difference was quite large. I'll go first with one track that I heard last night that kind of blew me away and that was the song: At last by Etta James. If you guys could list a song or a number of songs you have compared between both services and found Tidal to be noticable better and then if you could also describe the differences you notice that would be very helpful. I'm still on the fence so i thought this thread would be about you describing your experience and why you prefer Tidal to the likes of Spotify. Alright guys I have started a few threads now describing that I'm new to Tidal and still in the comparison stage to Spotify which I'll always keep as here in New Zealand it's essentially free if you have a mobile phone and plan.
